REGEN project

WHAT:

REGEN is a project co-financed by the European Commission’s Built4People partnership. It is led by Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and supported by 22 partners from across Europe. The Impact Lab is one of the core project partners. REGEN will implement its interventions in four demonstration sites (Dublin, Milan, Laredo, and Beckerich) while continually tracking the energy, mobility, and circularity of individual buildings, streets, and districts, along with changes in citizen behaviours. The project’s findings will be expanded to the city level, informing critical policy decisions and helping to the larger transition to sustainable urban development.

HOW:

The Impact Lab is supporting all four demo sites in the implementation of living labs and stakeholder engagement strategies. One way to do it is to apply The Impact Lab Stakeholder Analysis Tool that allows for a structured, systematic and dynamic analysis of key salient regeneration stakeholders. The objectives of this approach are to:

  1. Identify key relevant stakeholders per demo site.
  2. For each stakeholder, understand their current (assumed) attitude toward the project or intervention to identify key blockers and critics, as well as supporters and champions.
  3. Analyse stakeholder’s power and interest to understand their influence.
  4. Map stakeholders to understand their salience for your demo.
  5. Draw conclusions regarding the key stakeholder-related risks and opportunities, as well as impact on the overall feasibility of the solution / project / idea.

RESULTS:

Dublin participates in REGEN with its Ringsend community, a decarbonisation zone. Dublin was host to the recent general assembly of 22 REGEN partners. Leveraging this opportunity and working hand-in-hand with Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), The Impact Lab has co-led a workshop with all four demo site representatives to share their experiences in using The Impact Lab’s Stakeholder Analysis Tool. We have received valuable insights from our partners from Codema (Dublin), Begirune and Tecnalia (Laredo), as well as Commune di Milano, AMAT and R2M Italy (Milan), Beckerich Municipality and Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The journey of urban regeneration in a Built4People programme continues!
